*日研究：微笑面具 傷身又傷心
倫敦泰晤士報九日報導，日本研究人員發現，許多從事服務業的婦女因為工作需要而必須經常微笑，身體健康卻可能因此受到危害。
日本大阪大學心理學家夏目誠指出，在日本，許多從事服務業的婦女被公司要求必須笑臉迎人，少女若是打算在便利商店工作，受訓時必須學習如何展現能夠吸引顧客的完美笑容。問題是，經過一段時間後，許多女性可能無法恢復原有的臉部表情。
夏目誠說，女性在職場呈現的「微笑面具」將使真實的情緒受到壓抑，產生的心理衝擊往往非常嚴重。沮喪、心理疾病及其他症狀增加迅速，而微笑面具症候群更可能很快就成為嚴重的全國健康問題。他表示：「強迫自己長時間戴著微笑面具可能導致真正的沮喪。」他說，全天候的微笑也和多種身體症狀有關，包括肌肉疼痛與近似重複性使力傷害的頭痛。研究人員表示，這種社會現象與日本人長期強調的「男性須英勇，女性應迷人」的傳統觀念有關。
